What does HDI mean?
Our clients, agents and partners are asking frequently this question. The abbreviation HDI means Haftpflichtverband der Deutschen Industrie, in English: Union for Civil Liability of the German Industry. This name is related to the origin of HDI in 1903, when the accent was put on the industrial insurance.
What is Talanx?
Talanx AG is a company that stays on the top of a powerful financial multi-brand group. It was founded in 1998 in the process of re-organization of the HDI-Group. This repositioning had become necessary for two reasons. Firstly, in order to draw a clear dividing line between the holding company and the brands of the operating units and, secondly, with an eye to the requirements that capital markets place on a company of the size of Talanx. What does Talanx mean?
The name Talanx derives from a blend of "phalanx", a word of Greek origin referring to a robust, self-contained combat formation in Ancient Greece, and the word "talent". A tight-knit formation on the battlefield, the phalanx was an efficiently functioning, interlocking system distinguished by power, strength and solidity as well as by a high level of flexibility. Well-trained soldiers were able to modify the phalanx at any time: doubling or halving it in size, creating new formations. Talanx AG is not a company that equates commercial activities with the battles of Greek generals. The ability to respond flexibly to external circumstances, combined with power, strength and solidity, prompted to use the term "phalanx" as part of the name. The second element – talent – can also be traced back to Greek. The Greek "talent" was the highest unit of weight and also a currency unit in Antiquity. Large amounts were stated in talents at that time. The coin standard, the measure that determines how many coins are minted from a defined weight of metal as well as the metal content of the alloy, was based on the weight of the talent. The right mixture was of great importance, and precisely the same is true today of Talanx.
What is the relation between Hannover COOP Bulgaria and HDI Insurance Company?
HDI Insurance is the new name of Hannover COOP Bulgaria that the company got in 2004 as a part of the Talanx strategy for renaming the companies, operating abroad, and their consolidation under the brand “HDI”. As a result of this renaming our company joined the family of the other HDI-companies:
